About

About us or about Dog Bed? Or about a bit of both? Right now there is a dog bed at my feet, well sort of a little in front of my feet, to the left, under the table this desktop pc is on. It’s opposite for Tony. The dog bed is sort of in front of his feet, to his right. If we both put our hands on our hips, my left elbow and his right elbow remind us that we have funny bones.

The dog bed is a very flattened and tatty dog bed, but our jack russell Gilly loves her dog bed. Gilly especially loves her dog bed when we put “friend” on. Friend is the small fan heater that is currently humming away loudly in competition with my desktop pc’s CPU.

Besides the cold my eldest son and I have, and which my younger son and my brother have just gotten over, the weather has a bit of a cold too. Winter seems to have come really early this year. Today is the 2nd of June 2011, and if I recall correctly, for quite a few years now I’ve been used to Winter seeming more like July August September, even perhaps more than half way into October, rather than the expected June, July, August.

So now that the Winter season got it right to show it’s icicle fangs at the old-fashioned expected time, it hit me, and bit me (and I think many others too) quite hard. Could it be my fault for wishing Winter would come faster when I thought Summer would never end? What happened to Autumn? One yellow leaf in the garden and it was over?

And dark, dark so early in the evening. All of a sudden. Was Harold Camping perhaps right after all? And this really is the beginning of the end of the world? I used to think the world started ending the moment it started, but now? Hm. Maybe just speeding up somewhat? On the home straight now?

Ok.

So, the above few paragraphs represent, perhaps, what Tony and I are all about: We just ramble on and on, at times, (or what do you think? Always?) about an assortment of things. The online work we do from home as freelancers is also quite varied. See the wide variety of services we offer, on our services page.

So, this site contains a wide variety of topics, much like the description of what one might find in a dog bed (description found at the very top of this site. You did read it, didn’t you?) Gilly is passed out in hers right now, all cosy and warm with not a care in the world, other than a few minutes ago, when she was at us to put “friend” on.

But who are we? Really?

Teresa Schultz and Tony Flanigan, two people who love each other and who are trying to make ends meet by working from home, in East London, in South Africa, in my parents house, in which we also live, along with my two sons Basti and Zooty – and with Gilly, the jack russell who loves “friend” more than she loves Tony and I.

We’re passionate about working from home, and just as passionate about believing that many people who are trying to make ends meet, could work from home too, often being able to start with little or no money.

Many of the things we’ve learnt to do over the past 3 and a half years are self-taught, from reading tons of free information on the Internet.

We have a long way to go yet, and some months are still quite tough.

It’s extremely difficult trying to find the tons of time needed to work at increasing the passive income we make from some of our online activities and to market our freelance services more effectively, while at the same time doing many quick small jobs just to pay the bills. Our prices are ridiculously low for what we offer and do, and we’re fully aware that we do good work, that many others charge so much more for. If only more people knew about us, we could build a larger portfolio more quickly, and not worry about feeling bad if we put our prices up. We could triple most of our prices, and still be more affordable than many others offering the same work.

We’re positive we are going somewhere, though, and know our time will come. For now, we enjoy sifting thought the stuff that falls on our heads whenever we quickly grab Gilly out of her dog bed, when a giant pops in to empty that messy dog bed all over us.

Life’s a challenge, but what an exciting challenge it is!

Bring on those messy dog beds!
